Physiotherapy

Understanding Physiotherapy:

Set of techniques implemented to accelerate the healing process of ligaments and muscles by decreasing inflammation, increasing blood flow to the area being treated, increasing range of motion of the particular joint and thus increasing function. Some of the physiotherapy techniques used at Vida Chiropractic Center are:

Ultrasound Therapy

A technique that involves transferring sound waves into specific tissues of the body. A deep heat effect is created for the relief of pain, muscle spasms, and joint contractures.

Electrical Stimulation Therapy

Pain management technique that uses mild electrical currents to stimulate nerves and muscles.

Cryotherapy

Cold therapy is often the immediate first aid applied as soon as possible for many injuries. It helps reduce pain, swelling, and inflammation.

Heat Therapy

Heat therapy should be used for chronic injuries and late-stage acute injuries. A chronic injury is one that has persisted for a length of time and is usually due to overuse as opposed to a traumatic incident.

Neuromuscular Reeducation

A technique similar to balance training used to restore normal movement. It improves strength, balance, posture, coordination, and restores normal soft tissue tone and elasticity.

Therapeutic Exercises

Therapeutic exercises refer to a wide range of physical activities that focus on restoring and maintaining strength, endurance, flexibility, stability, and balance. The goal of therapeutic exercises is to correct an impairment, improve musculoskeletal function, or maintain a state of well-being.

Mechanical Traction

A technique that applies a longitudinal separation and gliding apart of spinal segments. This allows increased space for spinal nerves, elongates muscle tissue, decreases sensitivity, decreases intradiscal pressure and increases blood supply to the disc.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation

A technique that utilizes precision instruments to increase blood flow and break scar tissue and adhesions that result after soft tissue injuries and chronic inflammation. By redirecting collagen formation in the proper orientation, tissues heal properly.
